The Sokoto state Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has promised enhanced salary package for Principals of secondary schools in the state.
Similarly, it said that in no distant future after redeeming same, primary school teachers will equally start harvesting amplified emoluments.

The drive is expected to reflect the reality of their service delivery and herculean task they bear in discharging their duties.

The mouth watering disclosures were made by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at the inauguration of an 11-man committee to advise the state government on remuneration of principals of public secondary schools.

Tambuwal charged the committee chaired by a former Head of Service in the state, Buhari Bello Kware, with the to come up with modalities for the implementation of the incentives.

According to him, the enhanced pay package of principals should be “commensurate to their responsibilities.”

“We are beginning with the remunerations of principals of secondary schools as a first phase because we have a baseline data on them. A similar gesture will be extended to our primary schools because they are the critical foundation for all subsequent educational pursuits. We are considering the consolidation of the salaries of principals, who have reached the appropriate level,” added the Governor.

Assuring the committee of government support, Tambuwal, said: “I have no doubt that the Chairman and members of the Committee are quite aware of the enormity of the responsibilities we have placed on your shoulders. Your appointment is in recognition of your experiences, dedication and selfless service to Sokoto State and to the nation as a whole.”
