‎The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday inaugurated its National Campaign Council for the August 8, 2026 Osun State governorship election, describing the poll as a crucial test of the party’s preparedness ahead of 2027.

‎Speaking at the inauguration in Abuja, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said the party assembled experienced political leaders nationwide to coordinate the campaign and secure victory for its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.

‎According to Yilwatda, the council comprises governors, National Assembly members, ministers, deputy governors, National Working Committee, NWC members, former lawmakers and other stakeholders drawn from across the country.

‎He said the composition reflected the APC’s determination to mobilise both human and material resources to reclaim Osun State from the opposition.

‎The National Chairman disclosed that the party would embark on intensive grassroots mobilisation, with governors, lawmakers and party officials assigned to senatorial districts, local governments, wards and polling units across the state.

‎He also stressed the role of women in the election, urging the Directorate of Women Affairs to lead grassroots sensitization and voter mobilisation across Osun.

‎Yilwatda subsequently inaugurated the Campaign Council, expressing confidence that the calibre of members would deliver victory for the APC.

‎Responding on behalf of the council, Chairman and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, pledged that members would justify the confidence reposed in them.

‎Uzodimma described the assignment as a solemn responsibility, assuring that the campaign would be issue-based, peaceful and people-centred.

‎”Our assignment is to listen to the people of Osun State, earn their confidence and persuade them to vote for the APC and our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji,” he said.

‎He added that the campaign would highlight the achievements of the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the performance of APC administrations across the country.

‎Earlier, the APC governorship candidate, AMBO, thanked President Tinubu and the party leadership for constituting what he called a formidable campaign council.

‎Oyebamiji expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim Osun, saying the party’s message of prosperity, good governance and the Renewed Hope Agenda had gained widespread acceptance.

‎He said the party had already taken its campaign to all three senatorial districts, 30 local government areas, 332 wards and 3,762 polling units in the state.

‎According to him, consultations with traditional rulers, market associations, artisans, professionals, youths and women showed that residents are eager for a return to progressive governance.
