The National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) and the Students Union of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have both clarified that Oni Olalekan, a student accused of raping his male colleague, is not a member of their associations.

In a statement, NAOSS asserted that Olalekan, known as Asiwaju, holds no membership, executive, or appointed position within the association.

“We would like to clarify that this individual is not a member of our association nor has any affiliation with us. It is important to ensure that this distinction is clear to the general public and that any misinformation is addressed promptly,” NAOSS stated, urging anyone with relevant information to contact the association.

FUOYE Student Union echoed this sentiment in a communiqué signed by President Ebo Timilehin, General Secretary Akinwande Olusegun, and Public Relations Officer Omotayo Tolulope. They confirmed that Asiwaju is neither a member nor an appointee of the Students Union Government.

“Any claims or assumptions to the contrary are incorrect, and we urge the public to disregard any misinformation,” the communiqué read, adding that the FUOYESUG is actively addressing the situation to ensure justice is served.

Asiwaju, a 400-level student, was accused of raping a male colleague on June 10, 2024, and has been arrested. Ekiti State Public Relations Officer Abutu Sunday confirmed the arrest and stated that an investigation is underway.
