Several buildings submerged as flood hits Jalingo

Several residential buildings, shops and schools were submerged after hours of heavy rainfall triggered flooding in Jalingo, Taraba State, early Saturday.

The flood, which followed a prolonged downpour, left many parts of the state capital waterlogged, with properties destroyed and residents displaced.

Many of the affected structures were located in low-lying areas, as rising water levels overwhelmed drainage channels and spread rapidly across communities.

Flooding in the area is often linked to heavy rainfall and overflow from nearby waterways, which can inundate homes and businesses within a short period.

Residents have called for urgent government intervention to address the recurring flooding and provide relief to victims.
