ABUJA, Nigeria — Former Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Professor Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima following his re-nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement dated July 15, 2026, Prof. Alkali described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to retain Shettima as his running mate as a strong endorsement of the Vice President’s loyalty, competence, dedication, and invaluable contributions to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the re-nomination reflects the mutual trust, effective collaboration, and productive working relationship that have existed between President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima since the administration came into office in May 2023.

According to Prof. Alkali, continuity in the leadership of the APC ticket is expected to strengthen public confidence, reassure party faithful, and provide the stability needed to sustain the government’s ongoing reforms and development initiatives.

The former presidential adviser described Vice President Shettima as an experienced statesman, accomplished administrator, and unifying leader whose intellect, humility, and consensus-building approach have continued to enhance governance and promote national cohesion.

He further noted that President Tinubu’s decision is a strategic move that reinforces unity within the APC while positioning the party for a strong outing in the 2027 general elections.

Prof. Alkali also prayed for Vice President Shettima, asking Almighty Allah to bless him with sound health, wisdom, strength, and divine guidance as he continues to serve the nation.

He concluded by congratulating the Vice President on his re-nomination and wished him continued success in the service of Nigeria.
