Abuja, Nigeria Following the tragic and barbaric attack by yet to be identified gunmen in Plateau State, which led to the heartbreaking loss of numerous innocent lives including men, women, youths, and children, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Distinguished Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe, has taken decisive action to ensure the safety of FCT students caught in the crisis.

In the wake of this horrific incident, widespread panic has gripped citizens, forcing many to flee the state in search of safety. Among those displaced and stranded are over 150 students of FCT extraction, both indigenous and non-indigenous students of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Who have been unable to leave the danger zone.

Demonstrating unwavering commitment and deep concern for the welfare of her constituents, Senator Kingibe has deployed commutter buses from Abuja to Plateau State to evacuate these stranded students and bring them home to safety.

This swift intervention underscores the Senator’s dedication to the protection of lives and property, and her firm resolve that no constituent, regardless of their ethnic or indigenous status should be left behind in times of danger.

The evacuation operation is currently underway, with coordination between the Senator’s office, security agencies, and student representatives on the ground to ensure a seamless and safe return of all evacuees back to Abuja to enable them re-unite with their parents and loved ones.
