Access Bank UK says this year’s Polo Day will focus on raising more resources and forging strategic partnerships to expand access to education for vulnerable children in Nigeria and other underserved communities.
The annual charity event, scheduled for July 4 in Windsor, United Kingdom, is expected to attract business leaders, philanthropists, members of royalty and high-net-worth individuals from across the world, with proceeds dedicated to supporting education initiatives for disadvantaged children.
According to the organisers, the event has evolved beyond a social gathering into a platform for mobilising funds and partnerships aimed at improving access to quality education for children facing economic and social challenges.
Through its partnership with UNICEF and local organisations, the initiative has over the years funded classrooms, learning programmes and educational materials, enabling thousands of children to remain in school despite difficult circumstances.
The organisers said the 2026 edition seeks to build on these achievements by increasing support and expanding the scale and quality of educational interventions.
They noted that the initiative is founded on the belief that every child deserves access to education regardless of their background or circumstances.
This year’s event will also feature His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, as the Special Guest of Honour. The traditional ruler is expected to present the Emir’s Cup, a highlight that organisers say underscores the event’s blend of heritage, philanthropy and social impact.
Describing the Emir as a respected leader in both sport and community development, the organisers said his participation reflects the event’s commitment to connecting influence and tradition with meaningful social investment.
Managing Director of Access Bank UK, Jamie Simmonds, said the Polo Day provides an opportunity to leverage the bank’s platform to address barriers preventing children from accessing education.
“This event is about using our platform to create access where it is most needed. By bringing together the right partners and supporters, we are able to deliver outcomes that can make a real difference in the lives of many children,” Simmonds said.
He added that the collaboration among corporate organisations, development partners and philanthropists continues to produce tangible results by supporting educational programmes in underserved communities.
