The Rivers State Assembly has extended invitations to George-Kelly Alabo, a former Commissioner for Works, and eight other individuals for screening as potential commissioners in the state.

The announcement came through a statement from the house clerk, Emeka Amadi, who specified that the nominees are scheduled for screening on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

In his statement, Amadi listed the Commissioner-nominees and urged them to present themselves for screening and confirmation as members of the Rivers State Executive Council. The nominees include:

    1. Zacchaeus Adangor SAN DSSRS
    2. Dr. Jacobson Mbina DSSRS
    3. Dr. Gift Worlu
    4. Mrs. Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma DSSRS
    5. Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke FNSE DSSRS
    6. Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom DSSRS
    7. Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo FNIQS DSSRS
    8. Hon. Isaac Kamalu DSSRS
    9. Engr. Austin Ben Chioma

The clerk requested the nominees to bring “along with 40 sets of Curriculum Vitae (CV), photocopies of their credentials, and their originals.”

Before receiving the invitation, Alabo had previously served as the Commissioner of Works under the Fubara Sim’s government but resigned due to the impasse between the Rivers State governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. Alabo also held the same position in Wike’s government and was among the commissioners who departed during the conflict between the FCT minister and Governor Fubara.
