In a thought-provoking message, Pastor Godman Akinlabi of the Elevation Church in Lekki, Lagos, shared his perspective on the late Afrobeat star, Mohbad, and how the singer represented countless young men and women who lacked proper mentorship and guidance.

Mohbad, a 27-year-old musician, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, the following day. His sudden death raised questions, leading to an autopsy to determine the cause of his passing.

Pastor Akinlabi, in a Facebook Reel video, highlighted that Mohbad’s life story might echo the challenges faced by many young people – a lack of mentors and protective figures in their lives.

He stated, “Mohbad represents millions of exposed young men and women whose lights have been dimmed or extinguished due to the absence of the right mentors to guide and protect them in different phases and seasons of their lives.”

The pastor pointed out that intimidation and abuse can affect vulnerable individuals, even within the church, and often goes unnoticed because they lack the support and guidance of mentors who can shield them from harm.

Pastor Akinlabi urged those watching his video to take proactive steps in mentoring and supporting younger individuals, guiding them onto the right path. He encouraged kindness, uplifting words, and protection for the vulnerable, emphasizing that this is an essential part of preventing tragedies like Mohbad’s passing.

He concluded by calling for justice for the late singer while emphasizing the need for society to treat others, particularly the vulnerable, with greater kindness and compassion.
