Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has submitted a fresh list of commissioner nominees to the Lagos State House of Assembly, and it prominently features Sam Egube, a distinguished economist and banker.

Of note, five out of six former commissioners who were part of the initial list, which had faced some challenges with lawmakers, have been included in this new list.

The Governor called upon the House to assess and clear these nominees, emphasizing the importance of forming a capable state executive council to ensure the prosperity and equity of Lagos State.

This list comprises 18 names, some of which were previously sent to the House. In July, Governor Sanwo-Olu had initially submitted 39 names, but only 22 were cleared, resulting in speculation about tensions between the Governor and the Speaker of the House.

However, subsequent discussions between the Governor, the Speaker, and top APC leaders in the state resolved these issues.

The new list of commissioner nominees includes familiar names such as Sam Egube (Economic Planning and Budget), Gbenga Omotoso (Information and Strategy), Akin Abayomi (Health), Cecilia Dada (Women’s Affairs and Poverty Alleviation), and Olalere Odusote (Energy Resources).

Former Education Commissioner Folashade Adefisayo is notably absent from the second list.

During a plenary session, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa urged the chairman of the screening committee, Fatai Mojeed, to conduct a thorough screening process. The ad-hoc committee will report its findings to the House on Thursday.

The Commissioner Nominees on the new list are:
