Controversy trailed the aftermath of the All Progressives Congress (APC )primaries in Plateau State as protesters stormed party secretariat demanding the reversal of the elections of Senate,Reps and State Assembly candidates.
The protesters decried the declaration made by the officials of the APC saying it was not a true reflection of the people’s mandate
According to the protesters, the primaries were marred by irregularities, imposition of candidates and absent of election materials during the exercise.
Some of the aggrieved aspirants of the Plateau APC Primaries: Sen. Diket Plang, Amb. Chris Giwa, Gyang Zi, Sen. I.D. Gyang and others have earlier submitted petitions to the APC Election Appeal Committee Demanding the Cancellation of the Plateau APC Primaries,
Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved aspirants at Kalwa House, Jos, Sen. Diket Plang described the exercise as a “blackmail of democracy,” alleging that no credible elections were conducted in several areas, while results were fabricated and announced.
The petitioners accused some party officials of manipulating the process, insisting that aspirants and party members were denied a fair and transparent exercise.
They called for the cancellation of the primaries and the conduct of fresh elections in line with the APC guidelines and Nigerian electoral laws.
Despite their grievances, the aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and pledged to continue pursuing justice through the party’s internal mechanisms.
According to them, the people of plateau state are increasingly yearning for competence, strategic leadership, courage, discipline, and vision. Qualities Commander Yilchini Jan Bida undeniably represents.
“We remain focused, determined, and committed to restoring the lost glory of Plateau State in line with then dreams and aspirations of our founding fathers”, they stated.
