Peter Obi: “My turn” mindset, tribalism need to stop

    Published on

“It is time to move past outdated traditions of tribalism, religious bias, and the’my turn’ syndrome,” says Mr. Peter Obi, a former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate.

According to Obi, this is done to create an atmosphere that appreciates skill, ability, honesty, new ideas, and visionary leadership.

Kemi Badenoch, who was born in Nigeria, became the leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, prompting the comment.

According to Obi, the news is satisfying and couldn’t have come at a better moment than right now, when Nigerians are beginning to question their own abilities due to national events.

The former governor of Anambra State stated in a post on his X handle on Sunday that Nigerians ought to embrace the festivities as a springboard for reform in the country’s political system.

“The happy news that a Nigerian-born person, @KemiBadenoch, was elected as the leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom cannot come at a better time than now, when events in the country are making Nigerians doubt their potential,” he added.

“Badenoch’s election is a potent illustration of the potential of African and Nigerian youth on a global scale.

Her accomplishments demonstrate the power of variety and the potential that arises when competence, ability, integrity, and inclusivity are given top priority.

This achievement serves as both motivation and a wake-up call, bringing to light Nigeria’s leadership paradox, wherein younger leaders with demonstrated ability, competence, and integrity are frequently overlooked in favor of more senior leaders who lack the same motivation and attributes as the younger ones.

“Let’s use Kemi’s accomplishment as a springboard to transform our leadership environment while we celebrate it.

It’s time to put an end to antiquated customs of religious prejudice, tribalism, and the “my turn” syndrome and promote an atmosphere that emphasizes ability, competence, honesty, new ideas, and visionary leadership.

A better future for Nigeria and Africa may be possible if a new generation of leaders is accepted.

Best wishes, Kemi Badenoch. Indeed, a new Nigeria is conceivable!
