PDP to sanction indiscipline ahead convention — Ogidi

    Published on

Factional National Vice Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the South-South, Emmanuel Ogidi, has warned that the party will soon wield “the big stick” against erring members as it prepares for its National Elective Convention in November.

Speaking on ARISE News, Ogidi dismissed fears that the convention could be disrupted, insisting that the PDP remains strong and united despite internal challenges.

“Yes, we have had issues, but we’re not as weak as people think,” he said. “We’ve addressed the so-called forged documents and await the DSS investigation. The truth is, there was no forgery.”

Ogidi accused certain individuals of plotting to derail the convention. “They think they can hijack the process because they have money. The PDP has structures — NWC and NEC — that no one can override.”

He also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of “weaponising hunger” to manipulate citizens.

“The APC has turned hunger into a political weapon,” Ogidi said. “But Nigerians know who truly cares for them.”

Admitting that the PDP had been too lenient in the past, he vowed that discipline would henceforth be enforced. “We now have tigers in the family — people who once supported us but now work to frustrate us. Soon, we’ll wield the big stick, and you’ll be shocked.”

Ogidi confirmed that disciplinary cases were already under review, adding that sanctions would follow shortly.

On the ongoing northern micro-zoning talks for the chairmanship position, he said the leadership respects the process. “Both zones were allowed to handle their micro-zoning independently, and we respect their decisions,” he noted.

Despite recent defections, Ogidi expressed confidence that the PDP remains the party to beat in 2027. “We’ve faced storms before and survived. Nigerians still believe in the PDP because we’re the only party capable of rescuing this country,” he concluded.
