Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has declared that the peaceful protest by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja on Wednesday was against the display of partisanship by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He also declared that the protest was done to call attention to the tyranny of the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in a statement via his 𝕏 account, Atiku called on the international community to pay attention to what he described as the threat to democracy in Nigeria and the opposition in the country.

While praising the ADC National Chairman, David Mark, for joinin the protest on his birthday, the former Vice President expressed optimism that Nigeria shall emerge better.

“This morning, I joined other patriotic leaders of the ADC, , led by our indefatigable National Chairman, Sen. David Mark, who sacrificed the comfort of his special day to participate in a peaceful protest against the partisanship of @inecnigeria and the tyranny of the Tinubu-led APC administration.

“I believe they received the message that this effort to undermine our democracy will not succeed. It will be resisted and challenged to the best of our abilities. I also hope that the international community is paying attention to the threat to Nigeria, its democracy, and the opposition.

“Nigeria shall be reclaimed. Nigeria shall be rebuilt. Nigeria shall Arise and Shine through our collective and united efforts,” he wrote.
