Opposition Woes Linked to ‘Unseen Hands’ – Utomi

    Published on

The Deputy Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Manifesto and Policy Committee, Pat Utomi, has asserted that there are unseen hands working to sabotage opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Utomi made this statement on Tuesday during an interview on ARISE Television’s ‘Prime Time’, programme.

Utomi, a Professor of Political Economy, also stated that in all political parties there will be the good, the bad, and the ugly, including willing tools that outside forces can use.

While calling for urgent efforts to save the country, Utomi warned that the attitudes of some politicians were eroding public confidence.

He said, “There are some unseen hands trying to disrupt the Labour Party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

“The consistent outcome of this longitudinal data is that African people want democracy, but the people getting into power in Africa are preventing democracy from really taking place, and the people are losing hope in democracy. We must save our country from that.”

Meanwhile, the National Secretary of the ADC, Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday explained the reasons behind the party’s defeat in the Anambra State governorship election and the Federal Capital Territory area council polls.

Aregbesola spoke during the party’s ongoing national convention.

Reflecting on the elections, the former governor of Osun State admitted that the party fell short for several reasons.

According to Aregbesola, “Our party participated in the 2025 Anambra State and the February 26 FCT local government election.
