    Ogun LG Election: APC Wins

    The 20 candidates for chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were proclaimed the winners of the state’s local government election last Saturday by the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC).

    In the early hours of Sunday, Babatunde Osibodu, the commission’s chairman, presented the official results of the polling at the commission’s headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, the state capital, and proclaimed all 236 APC councillorship candidates the winners of the election.

    The ruling APC won all 20 LGAs and 236 wards in the state with 613,156 votes, according to Osibodu, who made the official announcement of the results of the 2024 Local Government Chairmanship and Councilorship elections during a live broadcast. The exercise included participation from major political parties such as the Accord Party (AP), African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), and All Progressives Congress (APC).

    The Allied People’s Movement (APM), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party (LP), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action People’s Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), Boot Party (BP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) were among the other political parties.

    The commission stated when this report was filed that it would deliver the Certificates of Return to the 236 council members-elect, all elected chairman, and vice chairmen on Sunday.

    The ceremony will take place at the commission’s headquarters in Oke—Ilewo, Abeokuta, the state capital, according to a statement signed by Osibodu, the commission’s chairman.
