Ahead of her white wedding tomorrow (Saturday, August 1, 2026) to fellow TikToker, Hamzat Habeeb Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, popular TikTok creator, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, known as Jarvis, has prayed against imprisonment warning to their marriage in future.
Jarvis’ prayer, which has stirred reactions on social media, was a reaction against a marriage registrar’s warning to the couple about the legal consequences of violating their marriage vows.
Jarvis had questioned whether the legal punishment for bigamy under Nigeria’s Marriage Act applies to both spouses or only one partner just a day after the video from their court wedding resurfaced online.
The pair had their civil court wedding on Wednesday, July 29, in Lagos State. They completed their traditional marriage rites in June 2026 (specifically around June 21, 2026), when Peller travelled to Benin City, Edo State, to meet Jarvis’ family, and pay her bride price.
During their civil court wedding ceremony, the registrar informed the couple that anyone who contracts another marriage while still legally married commits the offence of bigamy, which attracts “a minimum of five years imprisonment with no option of fine.”
Reacting in a now-trending video, Jarvis said she decided to revisit the registrar’s warning after watching the wedding clip again.
She said, “The five years imprisonment something, I just saw the video again, asides the joke, I had to think about it again, that 5 years imprisonment, is it for the men only? or is it for the two of us? because for my babe to react maybe it’s for the men only. Or maybe it’s not for the two of us. Nothing will happen in Jesus name o.”
Jarvis’ remarks followed Peller’s humorous reaction during the wedding ceremony, when he interrupted the registrar after hearing about the prison sentence.
Surprised by the warning, Peller had asked, “Wait, wait… I get question. For marriage?”
After the registrar repeated that the offence carries a minimum of five years’ imprisonment, the TikToker jokingly responded, “For marriage? We will not break it, but ah, I don’t know how prison enter this love… We are good.”
Daily NewsCraft reports that have not publicly specified the exact physical venue or city for their August 1, 2026 white wedding, though public announcements confirm that attendance is strictly by invitation.
Meanwhile, a relationship coach and writer, Solomon Buchi, has advised the young couple to undergo marriage counselling ahead of their Saturday wedding.
Reacting to a clip showing Jarvis telling Peller during an argument that he could take back the car he bought for her, Buchi said he supports early marriage but believes it should be accompanied by maturity, openness to advice and proper mentorship.
According to him, marriage is more than creating content or entertaining audiences on social media.
He added that if the couple intends to take their union seriously, they should undergo marriage counselling.
“I don’t want to sound like a hater. I love early marriage, but I believe it should come with maturity, openness to advice, and mentorship. Marriage is more than streaming and fooling around on social media, it is more than cameras. So If they are taking this marriage thing seriously, they should get marriage counselling,” he said.
The relationship expert urged the pair to embrace marriage counselling, describing it as an important step that could help them build a solid foundation before exchanging vows.
