The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has vehemently denied the claims made in a viral video that NNPC fuel does not last. In a statement issued on February 15, 2025, Olufemi O. Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC, dismissed the allegations as “baseless” and “entirely unfounded.”

NNPC explained that the viral video was based on unverified research lacking credibility, and assured the public that its fuel products are meticulously formulated to guarantee optimal performance, durability, and environmental sustainability.

The company also clarified that a significant proportion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at its retail stations in Lagos, where the video originated, is sourced from the Dangote Refinery. NNPC highlighted that the Dangote Refinery adheres to the highest industry standards to ensure the quality of its petroleum products.

In the statement, NNPC expressed concern that the viral video was part of a broader attempt by economic saboteurs to tarnish the company’s reputation and disrupt its operations. The company warned that it would take legal action against anyone spreading false information about its operations, vowing to hold such individuals accountable under the law.

NNPC urged Nigerians to disregard the misleading content and to rely on credible sources for accurate information. The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the availability, affordability, and quality of fuel for all Nigerians while adhering to global industry standards.
