In a recent video statement, Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), unequivocally distanced himself from the violence occurring in the East under the guise of IPOB or Biafra agitation.

Kanu openly condemned the violence, emphasizing that “anybody committing crime cannot go free.” He asserted, “I swear it. Anybody committing crime in the East cannot go free.” Kanu further attributed the escalation of violence to his current detention by the Department of State Services (DSS), stating, “They are doing it because I am in DSS custody. If I were to be outside, nobody can try this.”

His remarks serve as a clear denunciation of the violence and a declaration of his stance against criminal activities perpetrated in the name of the IPOB or Biafra movement.
