Nigeria’s upcoming clash with Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers is set to take place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Originally scheduled to be held at Benin’s Stade de l’Amitie in Cotonou, the match was relocated due to concerns over the stadium’s capacity.
Despite the venue change, Benin will seek local support in Abidjan as they aim to secure a victory against Nigeria. Notably, the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium holds significance for the Super Eagles, who achieved success there during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Having won all three of their matches at the stadium earlier this year, Nigeria will look to maintain their winning streak. Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman emerged as a key performer, scoring three of Nigeria’s four goals at the venue.
Before facing Benin, Nigeria will confront South Africa, the AFCON bronze medalists, in another crucial match. With the Super Eagles yet to secure a victory in the qualifiers, the upcoming fixtures hold significant importance as they strive to advance in the competition.
