    Nasarawa Governor Swears in New LG Chairmen

    Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has sworn in the newly elected Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state, urging them to prioritize transparency and accountability in their roles. The chairmen, all from the All Progressives Congress (APC), won their positions in last Saturday’s local government elections.

    During the swearing-in ceremony held in Lafia on Monday, Sule emphasized the importance of executing projects and programs that directly benefit the grassroots. He described the recent elections as among the most transparent and peaceful in the state’s history.

    In his remarks, Sule stated, “You are to embrace transparency, accountability, probity, and above all, prudence in the management of public resources.” He congratulated the elected chairmen and 147 councilors, highlighting their election as a reflection of the trust placed in them by the electorate.

    The governor also called for the promotion of peace and unity within the local government areas and commended the security agencies for their role in maintaining order throughout the electoral process.

    Muhammad Aliyu, Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, noted that the APC secured all 13 local government areas in the elections, commending Sule for his commitment to upholding democracy in the state.

    On behalf of the other LG chairmen, Mohammed Haliru, the Chairman of Lafia LGA, expressed gratitude to the governor, stakeholders, and residents for the confidence bestowed upon them to serve for the next three years. The list of chairmen includes:

    – Awe LGA: Hon. Umar Abubakar Dan’ Akano
    – Doma LGA: Hon. Jonathan Okuba Addra
    – Karu LGA: Barr. Abubakar Aliyu Madaki
    – Keana LGA: Hon. Adamu Aboki Usman
    – Keffi LGA: Hon. Dr. Idris Ahmed Danmagani
    – Kokona LGA: Hon. Agbawu Mek Agbawu
    – Lafia LGA: Hon. Mohammed Arabo Haliru
    – Nasarawa LGA:Hon. Mohammed Hassan Ahmed
    – Nasarawa Eggon LGA: Barr. Iliya Ibn Aliyu
    – Obi LGA: Hon. Mohammed Isa KK
    – Toto LGA: Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya
    – Wamba LGA: Hon. Ezekiel Musa Jagga

    The event was attended by notable figures, including the State Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, State Chief Judge Aisha Bashir Aliyu, and other political leaders and traditional rulers.
