NAF Airstrike Kills Terrorists in Sambisa Forest

    Published on

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a successful airstrike on terrorist hideouts in the Sambisa Forest, killing several insurgents and destroying key structures.

The operation, which took place on Monday, April 20, 2026, was part of ongoing counter insurgency efforts under Operation Hadin Kai in Nigeria’s North-East region.

Confirming the development, the Director of Public Relations and Information in the NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said the strike was executed following credible intelligence on the movement of terrorists within forests.

According to him, the air component deployed fighter jets that engaged the targets with precision strikes, leading to the neutralisation of several fighters and the destruction of their logistics base.

“The Nigerian Air Force, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a successful air interdiction mission on terrorist enclaves in Sambisa Forest. Several terrorists were neutralised, and their structures destroyed,” the statement said.

It added that the operation was part of sustained military pressure aimed at degrading the capabilities of insurgent groups operating in the region.

According to the statement, no civilian casualty was recorded in the operation.
