Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Mohbad, appeared in a coroner’s court and testified about his son’s troubled marriage. Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, passed away on September 12, and was laid to rest the following day. The inquest into his death began on October 13 at the Ikorodu magistrates’ court in Lagos.

During his testimony, Joseph Aloba revealed that his son had confided in him about his marital issues, claiming that his wife was cheating on him with another signee of Marlian Records. Joseph stated that he and his son had lived together for 18 years but did not know the exact house where his late son was living with Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Records.

He also mentioned that Mohbad assured him he could handle the dispute with Naira Marley. Joseph revealed that his daughter-in-law had been unfaithful to his son, alleging that she put sleeping pills in his food on occasion.

Joseph stated, “My son told me she always put sleeping pills in his noodles and went to another room to sleep with another signee in the same house.”

He also shared that his late son had purchased a car for him after reconciling with his mother.

The coroner expressed condolences to Joseph Aloba for his son’s death and assured him that justice would be served in the case. Earlier in October, Naira Marley, Primeboy, and Sam Larry were remanded in police custody by a Yaba magistrate’s court in connection with Mohbad’s death.
