    Lions club international donates relief materials to flood victims in Kogi

    Succour came the way of Flood victims in Kogi at the weekend as Members of the Lions club international, District 404A202 Abuja donated relief materials to them.

    Items donated and distributed include food such as rice,garri flour, vegitable oil and clothings.

    The District Governor, Ashiwaju Jide Bello who led his members to distribute the item said that the Lions club was touched by the level of devastation and the number of people displaced by the flood hence the decision to visit the state and identified with their suffering in line with the slogan of the club “we serve”.

    “We are here to assure the displaced people that they are not alone in the devastation that had befell them,we feel their pains and this is our own little way of helping them reduce the effects of the devastation”.he said

    According to him,”Kogi being one of the states under the jusrisdiction of District 404A202 has been chosen the first point of call adding that the gesture will be extended to other state with similar fate in the coming weeks”.

    He said that the donations was to complement the efforts of both the state and federal government in bringing succour to the displaced people

    Earlier,the Ohimege Igu of Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Isa Koto while receiving members of the club in his palace in Koto expressed appreciation for the visit and having the human feeling that led to the donations.

    “The level of devastation is better imagined and government alone cannot handle it,that is why your intervention is timely and I on behalf of other traditional rulers on Kogi west where I am the Chairman is full of appreciation for the kind gesture
