The Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan Foundation has launched a fully funded intervention to return 1,178 out-of-school children to classrooms in Yobe State, in a major push to expand educational access.
The initiative, tagged ‘Second chance: A SAIL Foundation Education Development Initiative,’ was announced by the former Senate President on Sunday.
The programme targets 1,178 carefully selected beneficiaries drawn from 17 secondary schools across Nguru Local Government Area in the Yobe North Senatorial District.
Senator Lawan stated that the comprehensive sponsorship package will cover the entire duration of the beneficiaries’ secondary education.
Beyond school fees, the foundation will provide essential educational materials including school bags, textbooks, uniforms, and sandals to ensure the students are fully equipped.
“Education remains the most enduring investment we can make in our youth. I have never wavered in the conviction that no child should be left behind because of his or her circumstance,” Senator Lawan said.
To ensure a seamless academic session, the measurement and fitting exercise for school uniforms and sandals will commence on Monday, 27 July 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at Galadima Maidunoma Mega School, Nguru, opposite Zangon Shanu.
The exercise will be coordinated by an organizing committee chaired by Comrade Bashir Sharif Tahir, SAIL Coordinator for Nguru. Senator Lawan urged parents, guardians, and school proprietors to ensure punctual attendance for a well-organized exercise.
