During the Labour Party National Youth Leaders Conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, Marcel Ngogbehei, the Director General of the Labour Party Directorate of Mobilization and Integration, highlighted the pivotal role youth leaders play in shaping the country’s political landscape. He stressed that grassroots leadership is vital for fostering national unity and bridging divides among various communities and stakeholders.
Ngogbehei reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to supporting youth leaders by offering training programs, advocacy platforms, and tools to enhance their effectiveness. The Labour Party emphasized its dedication to creating an inclusive and accessible political space, with youth playing a key role in policy formulation and strategy development.
The party presented a collective vision aimed at addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges, such as security, economic empowerment, education, sustainable development, and good governance. It called on youth leaders to leverage the conference as a platform to strategize, build networks, and develop actionable solutions for these issues.
In his address, Ngogbehei said, “The energy, creativity, and commitment you bring to our party are not only inspiring but essential as we work to build a stronger and more inclusive Labour Party and Nigeria. Our nation is at a pivotal point, and your role as youth leaders cannot be understated. You are not just the voice of tomorrow—you are the force of today.”
He encouraged the youth leaders to ensure that the concerns and aspirations of young people are central to the party’s policies and strategies. He emphasized that their leadership at the grassroots level is crucial in fostering unity and bringing about inclusive change that can bridge the gaps between different communities and stakeholders.
The Labour Party’s Directorate remains committed to providing the tools and platforms necessary for effective engagement and advocacy. Ngogbehei expressed full confidence that the youth leaders would rise to the occasion and urged them to use the conference to strengthen alliances and develop solutions to the country’s most pressing issues.
“We will not stop until we leverage the powers available in Aso Rock through a Labour Party Presidency in 2027 to ensure our people are safe and prosperous,” he concluded.
