In a significant move to enhance equitable representation within the Kaduna South Senatorial District, the Zoning Committee has presented its report during a marathon meeting held on Saturday in Kagoro. Chaired by Barr Mark Jacob, the committee’s recommendations were adopted by the Kaduna South Senatorial District Executive Committee, marking a pivotal step in local governance.

The Zoning Committee allocated a total of 13 positions among the Local Governments (LGs) within the zone, ensuring that each area is adequately represented. The allocation includes key positions such as Chairman, Vice Chairman, Women Leader, and various assistant roles, which are distributed across the following Local Governments:

    – Chairman**: Jemaa
    – Vice Chairman: Kagarko
    – Women Leader: Jaba
    – Zango-Kataf: Auditor & Assistant Legal Adviser
    – Kaura: Assistant Financial Secretary & Ex-officio
    – Kauru: Assistant Treasurer & Ex-officio
    – Kachia: Assistant Secretary & Assistant Youth Leader
    – Sanga: Assistant Organising Secretary & Assistant Women Leader

Following thorough deliberations, the Zonal Executive Committee ratified the Zoning Committee’s report, which was subsequently endorsed by the Zonal Caucus. This collaborative effort showcases the commitment of the leadership to uphold constitutional zoning principles and serve the interests of the community.

In a statement released by the Zonal Leadership, they expressed gratitude to the Zoning Committee for their dedication and hard work. “We commend the Zoning Committee for their diligent efforts in ensuring equitable representation within our zone. This decision reflects our commitment to constitutional principles and the interests of our people. We urge all stakeholders to respect and support this zoning arrangement,” the statement read.

The local governments have been directed to produce candidates for the allotted positions, with an emphasis on community involvement and representation.

This new zoning arrangement not only reinforces the principles of democracy in Kaduna South but also aims to foster unity and cooperation among the Local Governments, ultimately benefiting the constituents they serve.
