JAMB lists Armed Forces College of Medicine and Health Sciences for 100 pioneer cadets

    Published on

‎The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, has welcomed the listing of the Armed Forces College of Medicine and Health Sciences (AFCOM-HS) on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal for the 2026/2027 academic session for the admission of its 100 pioneer cadets.

    ‎

‎Alausa described the listing as a significant milestone in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for education, healthcare and national security and another transformation of the agenda powered by the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI).

    ‎

‎The Minister said AFCOM-HS was set up to strengthen military healthcare, develop specialised medical manpower and advance national security, noting that it is the first in Nigeria and possibly one of the few medical schools on the African continent dedicated to training military cadets in Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and other related medical courses from inception.

    ‎

‎He said the College would provide specialised training for doctors, nurses and other health professionals to strengthen military healthcare delivery and meet critical national manpower needs and would integrate medical education with military officer development to equip cadets with clinical competence, professional ethics and leadership skills to support the wellbeing of Armed Forces personnel and strengthen national health security.

    ‎

‎Located within the 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Yaba, Lagos, AFCOM-HS has secured National Universities Commission (NUC) approvals for Medicine and Surgery, MBBS, and Nursing Science, B.NSc, and is preparing to admit its pioneer cohort of 100 cadets.

    ‎

‎Alausa commended the Minister of Defence, Lt. General Chris Musa, and the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the Armed Forces leadership, the Technical Working Group chaired by Brigadier General Dr Idris Babatunde Solebo, NUC, JAMB and relevant professional regulatory authorities for their contributions to the College’s establishment.

    ‎

‎He reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to academic oversight, quality assurance and regulatory collaboration to ensure that the College maintains the required standards while advising prospective applicants to consult official AFCOM-HS and JAMB channels for information on eligibility, application procedures, military selection requirements and admission dates.
