The Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central in the 2027 general elections, Ven Tochukwu Ikezue, has reassured genuine and quality representation if elected.
He also vowed not to betray the confidence reposed in him by his constituents in view of his background and divine mandate.
Speaking during an engagement with stakeholders of the party at Anaocha Local Government Area, Ikezue extolled the sterling performance of Governor Alex Otti in Abia state, pledging to replicate same in his constituency.
Ikezue, who was accompanied by the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia, Hon Dr Mrs Mary Obiokoye, described her as dependable ally who would unite with him to transform to the state.
”One thing I asked God when I got the conviction to contest this election is people that will support me with all humility and sincerity. God answered the prayers by not only giving me Labour Party as platform, but also someone like Hon Dr Mary Obiokoye.
”When compared with many of those contesting with me, I’m of no match with them, especially in terms of affluence. I’m just a clergyman. But I prayed God to help me same way he helped David because my rivals are all Goliaths.
”I was given the ticket to fly the party’s flag because people remembered the role I played to restore peace and unity in the party in time of crisis,” he said.
While lamenting increasing sufferings and hardships masses are experiencing, the LP candidate promised change of narratives, including employment and empowerment opportunities for women and youths.
He added, “In Abuja where I’m serving as priest, I see young graduates roaming the streets in search for jobs. Some are okada and keke riders. Yet, they have Senators in their various constituencies. When they approach them, they demand millions of naira to give them jobs.
”What differentiates me from them is my position as a priest and the bible which I carry with dignity. I know what is at stake before me is enormous. I can’t afford to fail God, the church and the entire people of Anambra Central if you elect me as your senator.
”In Abia state, the people unanimously asked Governor Alex Otti to continue governing them because of the wonderful work he’s doing for them. When the righteous is in authority, the people rejoice. That’s why LP has insisted they no longer want money bags.
”If you vote for Peter Obi for President under NDC, then vote for me for Senate and Hon Mary Obi Okoye as House of Reps under LP. What Otti is doing in Abia we’ll replicate in Anambra Central.”
Also speaking, House of Reps candidate, Hon Mary Obi Okoye said while the Senatorial candidate was on rescue mission, hers would be to rescue, resurrect and restore dignity of the people through projects.
She said, “We’re not going to Abuja to sleep or make noise. Instead, we’re going to make laws that will better the lots of our people. We’re also going to bring back what belongs to us.
”As an experienced educational administrator of 46 years of experience, I know how to manage people, resources and deliver results.”
Obiokoye appealed to party faithful to get ready with their permanent voter cards to vote for the party candidates, assuring them that the ugly experience in the last election would not repeat itself.
”The time to change story is now and the power is in our PVC. We must protect and guard it jealously and ensure vote wisely on election day. Your vote will definitely count this time around,” she added.
