The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, describing his passing as a significant loss to Delta State, the Niger Delta region and Nigeria.
PANDEF National Chairman, Ambassador (Dr) Godknows Boladei Igali, conveyed the forum’s condolences in a letter dated October 19, 2026, addressed to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
In the letter, Igali expressed shock over the death of Uduaghan, whom he described as a beloved brother, close associate and personal friend.
He said although the news of the former governor’s passing was painful, there was a need to submit to the will of God and glorify His name.
Igali recalled his longstanding relationship with Uduaghan, noting that both men served as Secretaries to their respective state governments at the same time and maintained a cordial relationship until his death.
According to him, Uduaghan was an exceptional personality whose commitment to the people of Delta State remained unwavering throughout his years of public service.
The PANDEF chairman particularly highlighted the late governor’s contributions to peace and stability in the Niger Delta, especially during the period of heightened militancy in the region.
He noted that Uduaghan played significant roles both as Secretary to the Delta State Government and as governor in efforts to address insecurity and promote peace in the oil-rich region.
Igali said the former governor’s death was not only a major loss to Delta State but also to the entire Niger Delta and the country at large.
He expressed hope that the legacy Uduaghan left through his service to God and humanity would continue to inspire generations, adding that the former governor had etched his name in gold in the annals of history.
The PANDEF chairman also prayed for God’s comfort and strength for the Uduaghan family and the people of Delta State as they mourn the former governor.
He urged Governor Oborevwori to convey his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the people of the state.
Igali concluded the letter with a prayer for the peaceful repose of Uduaghan’s soul in the bosom of the Lord.
