The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has proposed a significant change for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). During the Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions, it was discussed and approved that candidates may be allowed to use mobile phones during the examination.

While details regarding the specific guidelines and restrictions for the use of mobile phones in the UTME are yet to be released, this potential change marks a departure from the previous prohibition on mobile phones in the examination hall. It is expected that JAMB will provide further information and instructions to ensure a fair and controlled environment for the examination.

In addition to the discussion on mobile phones, the Policy Meeting also determined the Minimum Tolerable Scores for 2023 admissions into tertiary institutions. For universities, the minimum score will be set at 140, while polytechnics and colleges of education will have a minimum score of 100.

These decisions are subject to any further adjustments or clarifications that JAMB may announce in the coming months leading up to the 2023 UTME. Aspiring candidates are advised to stay updated with official communications from JAMB regarding the examination guidelines and requirements.
