The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abdullah Abu Shawesh, has strongly condemned Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people. In a statement released on Thursday, Ambassador Shawesh highlighted the devastating toll the conflict has taken on innocent civilians and called for urgent global action to address the situation.

The statement emphasized the gravity of the situation in Gaza, where relentless bombardments from all directions have turned the region into a living hell. The people of Gaza are facing unbearable conditions, including scorching heat, mounting trash, and dire living conditions, pushing them to the brink of despair.

Ambassador Shawesh also raised concerns about the biased nature of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the complicity of certain countries in protecting Israeli officials from potential arrest warrants. He criticized media outlets for referring to the situation as a conflict, questioning what constitutes war if not the current state in Palestine. The embassy called for immediate recognition of the severity of the situation and stressed that waiting for further escalation is not an option.

The statement highlighted the alarming toll of Israel’s aggression, reporting over 37,925 Palestinians killed and 87,141 injured as of July 2nd. The impact on education has been devastating, with numerous students losing their lives, being injured, or arrested. The complicity of the United States in the conflict was also condemned, citing the transfer of weapons to Israel, which contributes to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, the embassy expressed deep concern over the high number of detainees in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Currently, there are 9,450 detainees, including women, children, and journalists, who face insults, beatings, threats, and vandalism. The statement highlighted the daily torture and assault endured by Palestinian prisoners by the occupation army doctors and medical staff, which has resulted in the martyrdom of 18 detainees in the occupation prisons and military detention camps.

The embassy also condemned the extreme racist remarks made by the Israeli fanatic minister of national security, advocating for the execution of Palestinian prisoners. Such statements and proposed legislation were deemed unacceptable and reflective of a complete disregard for human rights.

The Embassy of the State of Palestine to the Federal Republic of Nigeria called upon the international community to take immediate action to halt Israel’s genocidal war against the Palestinian people. Failure to do so, the statement warned, would have far-reaching consequences for global peace and security.
