The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has denied claims that public schools in the Federal Capital Territpry  FCT were ordered to shut down by November 28, insisting that no such instruction was issued.

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 25, the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said, “No such decision was taken at any level of the administration.”

It added that, “He described the circulating report as ‘false and misleading,’” urging parents, students, and school authorities to dismiss it. According to him, “the approved academic calendar remains unchanged.”

Olayinka also announced that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr Danlami Hayyo.

He added that the Acting Head of Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has been directed to discipline the Director of School Services, Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in line with civil service rules.

The administration assured residents of continued security measures.

“The Minister has directed the resumption of Operation Sweep and other security initiatives across the federal capital,” Olayinka said.

He reiterated that schools will continue academic activities normally despite the rumours.
