Ilebaye recently drew ire from fans after she posted her bank account details online immediately after winning a staggering 120 million Naira. While the move was intended to provide clarity and prevent fans from sending money to the wrong account, it quickly sparked controversy on social media.
Since her triumph, numerous fans and supporters have been sending money to her account. However, it appears that some individuals have attempted to take advantage of the situation by impersonating Ilebaye and claiming to possess her account details.
Her team swiftly addressed the issue, urging the public to avoid sending money or gifts to any account that isn’t officially linked to Ilebaye’s verified social media handles. They also shared her direct account details for secure payments. Nonetheless, Ilebaye’s decision to disclose her bank account information, rather than announcing charitable initiatives or a comprehensive plan, has left fans and followers puzzled.
Many took to various social media platforms to express their disappointment and criticism of Ilebaye’s choice. Some viewed it as a display of greed, while others questioned her motives for sharing such personal information publicly. One Twitter user, Emeka Umeh, echoed these sentiments in a quote directed at IlebayeOfficial.
“We’ve received information about fans planning to send gifts or contributions. Please refrain from sending money to any account that isn’t officially posted on Ilebaye’s verified accounts.
For gifts, please send an email. The only accessible account is the Baye Tribe account (****Providus). We won’t be responsible for any misappropriation of funds. Thank you.”
