“I Go Dye” Explains Why He Slept in Port Harcourt Brothel 23 Years Ago

Nigerian comedian Francis Agoda, popularly known as “I Go Dye,” has shared a personal anecdote about spending a night in a Port Harcourt brothel many years ago. Through his verified Instagram account, he revealed that financial constraints led him to this unconventional lodging.

I Go Dye recounted that he had been invited for an event that paid him a meager amount of 10,000 naira. Unaware that his accommodation, transportation, and meals were supposed to be covered by this payment, he found himself unable to afford a hotel room.

He elaborated that upon arriving in Port Harcourt, he discovered the situation. With only 2,000 naira left out of the 10,000 he had received months earlier, he faced a dilemma. The cheapest hotel he could find cost 5,000 naira, leaving him short of funds. Faced with this predicament, he approached a prostitute and negotiated to spend the night in her room for a fee of 1,000 naira.

Sharing a throwback photo of the day, I Go Dye captioned it with reflections on the experience. He emphasized that the picture depicted a story of determination and hope from 23 years ago, specifically December 26th, 2000. He recalled the challenges he faced due to financial limitations and how he navigated through them.

He stated that despite the difficulties encountered, he believes in the importance of maintaining faith and persevering towards one’s dreams. He used his story as an example to inspire others, highlighting that no matter the present hardships, there is always a brighter future ahead.

I Go Dye concluded his post with a touch of humor, noting that even prominent figures like Chris Oyakhilome and Chris Okotie did not surpass him in hair fashion that year.
