“I can’t afford to get emotional right now – Dolly Parton

    Published on

Country music legend Dolly Parton has shared an emotional update about her career, revealing she’s taking a break from recording music after the death of her husband, Carl Dean.

Dean, who was married to the singer for 59 years, passed away earlier this year at the age of 82. Speaking on Khloe in WonderLand, the 79-year-old music icon admitted she’s currently unable to pour herself into music. “I can’t do it right now because I have so many other things that I can’t afford the luxury of, you know, of getting emotional right now,” she told Khloe Kardashian during the podcast chat.

She added, “I’m just putting that all on hold,” describing her current state as “stalled,” though open to creating again if inspiration comes. The heartbreaking update comes months after Dolly shared a touching tribute to Dean through a ballad released shortly after his passing.

Dolly and Carl’s decades-long relationship remained mostly private, with Dean often staying out of the spotlight while supporting her from behind the scenes
