Feelers coming from APC National Secretariat, Abuja suggest that all arrangements have been concluded to ensure that Hon Edozie Madu emerges the APC Flag bearer for November 8 Anambra Governorship Election.
A highly placed Official at the National Office who acknowledged that the directive “came from above” says the choice of Edozie Madu may not be unconnected with the fact that out of the six aspirants, he is the only one who has remained loyal to the party over the years and supported President Tinubu during the 2023 Presidential Elections.
His support for the President also cost him dearly as he was attacked on the eve of the election by unknown gunmen who burnt down his house in his village Owerre-Ezukala when he managed to escape and also killed a Police Officer assigned to him.
He is said to be the only prominent member of the APC from Anambra who braved it to campaign for the President in the 2023 Presidential election.
Other permutations seem to also be in favour of Hon Edozie Madu as the party has also decided to support a candidate from Anambra South Senatorial Zone.
The Party has also decided to move away from Aguata which is the Local Government Area of the Incumbent Governor Professor Soludo, Choosing Edozie Madu who is from Owerre-Ezukalla in Orumba South with Strong support base from Orumba North.
During the party’s membership revalidation/registration excercise held last week, while other aspirants were fighting each other openly and even in the party’s WhatsApp groups , with many aspirant posting receipts of payments made for party members, Edozie Madu was said to have quietly bankrolled the membership revalidation/registration of APC members in the 326 wards with hundreds of millions.
He is said to have also purchased delegate forms for over 2,000 members for the party’s delegate congress held last 2 Saturdays.
We were reliably informed that most of the delegates he funded emerged victorious from that excercise. The party is expected to release the list of the 1,630 delegates for the party primary in a few days time.
Baring any last minute surprises, April 5th APC Primaries will be a date in history for Edozie Madu as contacts close to him disclosed that he is already preparing his acceptance speech ahead of the D-day.
