Harry Kane, who recently joined Bayern Munich, has pointed out a significant distinction between his former club, Tottenham Hotspur, and his new team. According to Kane, the key difference lies in how the two clubs handle winning and losing games.
Kane, Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading goal scorer, made a €100 million move to Bayern Munich this summer. He emphasized that there is considerably more pressure at Bayern than at Spurs when the team isn’t winning matches.
During his time at Tottenham, Kane achieved personal success, including becoming the Premier League’s top goal scorer and winning Golden Boots. However, he didn’t secure any major titles with the club.
By joining Bayern Munich, a club that has claimed the Bundesliga title for the past 12 seasons, Kane now has a significant opportunity to win his first major title.
Speaking ahead of England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine, Kane, who had been eager to leave Spurs for over two seasons, explained that the pressure at Bayern is different. While Spurs aimed to win trophies, a couple of games without a victory didn’t feel like a catastrophe. However, at Bayern, the expectation is to win every game.
Kane expressed his enjoyment of experiencing these distinct pressures and motivations at Bayern, which was one of the reasons he sought the move. He highlighted that Bayern Munich is one of the world’s biggest clubs and emphasized the importance of winning, particularly in their Champions League campaign.
He concluded, “When we get back, we start the Champions League campaign, which they expect to win. So you’re going into those games with maybe a different feeling to what I’ve had in the past.”
