The Integrity Group of Nigeria, operating under the Renewed Hope Initiative Ambassadors banner, has welcomed Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State into the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his defection as a “pragmatic and visionary step” toward national alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s development agenda.
In a statement signed by the National Convener of the group, Dr. Oke Idawene, the organisation praised Governor Eno’s move as a symbol of “unified national purpose,” calling it a timely decision that will further consolidate Nigeria’s ongoing socio-economic transformation.
“Governor Eno’s entry into the APC is a profound testament to his commitment to the collective advancement of Nigeria. It reflects a clear understanding of the imperative for unity at a critical juncture in our nation’s development,” the statement read.
The group described the Akwa Ibom governor’s political realignment as one that aligns the state with the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’, the cornerstone of President Bola Tinubu’s policy blueprint. The Initiative, the group emphasised, is aimed at achieving economic reform, national stability, and responsible governance.
The group specifically lauded Tinubu’s bold economic measures, including the removal of fuel subsidies and efforts to unify the exchange rate as “astute” and “fiscally courageous.”
“These policies are expected to attract foreign investment, stabilise the national economy, and channel public funds into essential sectors such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and food security.
“These are not just theoretical reforms, but practical and bold decisions with long-term national benefits,” it said.
Eno, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, is being hailed by the Integrity Group for his “novel leadership” and “dedication to progress.”
The group expressed confidence that his wealth of experience and administrative acumen would bring “added strength” to the APC and serve as a catalyst for accelerated development in Akwa Ibom and beyond.
“We believe his active participation will deepen the reach of the Renewed Hope Agenda and ensure that its benefits are felt tangibly in the lives of ordinary citizens,” the statement added.
The group reiterated its commitment to working with Eno’s administration in pursuit of shared goals under the Renewed Hope Initiative, which emphasises transparency, national unity, and people-centered governance.
“We look forward to a robust collaboration with Governor Eno to build a truly wonderful future for Nigeria and all its citizens, grounded in integrity, progress, and renewed hope,” Idawene said.
The group (Renewed Hope Initiative Ambassadors) is a non-partisan civil society organisation advocating for good governance and sustainable national development. It supports initiatives that foster transparency, economic progress, and the social upliftment of all Nigerians.
