Peter Umeadi, the former Chief Judge of Anambra State and a 2023 presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has proposed a political approach as the best solution to address the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Umeadi emphasized that resolving Kanu’s case through political means, rather than solely through legal avenues, could potentially contribute to ending the ongoing insecurity in the Southeast region of Nigeria.

In a statement to journalists in Abuja, Umeadi stated: “Well, the issue of insecurity in the South East first of all, it has been said before and I agree, for now, it is a serious matter. If it is solved, then that is good. The problem, if it is not solved, then you begin to look for another reason why it is still there. But for now, everybody is saying it and I agree that the issue of Nnamdi Kanu should be treated as a political matter, not a legal matter.”

He further suggested that if Nnamdi Kanu were to be released, it might contribute to resolving the current challenges in the South East. This statement underscores the belief that a political solution may hold the key to addressing some of the ongoing issues and tensions in the region.
