    FG Approves Promotion for 20,867 Personnel in Para-Military Services

    The federal government has approved the promotion of 20,867 senior personnel across various ranks within the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS). Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, announced the promotion on Friday, September 13.

    The promotions cover multiple ranks, including Inspector/Assistant Superintendent, Controllers, Comptrollers, and Commandants. The breakdown is as follows: 5,329 officers from the Nigeria Correctional Service, 5,112 from the Nigeria Immigration Service, 9,937 from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and 489 from the Federal Fire Service.

    Special promotions were also granted, with 2 officers from NCoS, 4 from NIS, 2 from NSCDC, and 1 from FFS receiving recognition. Additionally, Dr. Tunji-Ojo, represented by Alhaji Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Board of the Services, announced the approval of new training curricula and a revised Scheme of Service for the Federal Fire Service. The government is set to complete the 2023/24 Federal Fire Service recruitment exercise by the end of the month.
