The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has felicitated with Muslims in Kebbi State and across the country on the occasion of the 1447 AH Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to embrace peace, tolerance, and unity.
In a goodwill message signed by Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Governor Idris described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred period of sacrifice, faith, and obedience to Allah, calling on Muslims to uphold the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim through peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding.
The governor said the celebration should serve as a reminder of the need for harmony among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, stressing that peace remains essential for sustainable development.
“I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Kebbi State and beyond on this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, a season of sacrifice, faith, and obedience to Allah. May the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim inspire us to uphold peace, tolerance, and unity across our communities as we celebrate this sacred festival with gratitude and humility,” he said.
Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across Kebbi State through continuous engagement with traditional institutions, community leaders, security agencies, and vigilante groups.
According to him, the government will continue to prioritize the protection of lives and property, safeguard farmlands, and ensure lasting peace throughout the state.
The governor also highlighted ongoing infrastructural projects being executed by his administration, including the construction of roads and bridges, rural electrification projects, and improved water supply schemes aimed at enhancing economic activities and improving the living conditions of residents.
Speaking on agriculture, Governor Idris described the sector as the backbone of Kebbi State’s economy, noting that his administration has intensified support to farmers through the distribution of free fertilisers, improved seedlings, power tillers, irrigation support, extension services, and better market access.
He further stated that the government is investing heavily in education through the construction and renovation of schools, recruitment of teachers, supply of instructional materials, and expansion of technical and vocational education.
In the health sector, the governor said efforts are ongoing to upgrade primary healthcare centres and general hospitals, recruit medical personnel, and strengthen maternal and child healthcare programmes across the state.
Governor Idris also outlined several empowerment initiatives targeted at women and youths, including entrepreneurship training, ICT programmes, grants, and credit facilities aimed at creating employment opportunities and boosting economic productivity.
He urged residents of the state to celebrate the Sallah festivities peacefully, remain law-abiding, extend support to the less privileged, and continue to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole.
