The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has unveiled a new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven registration portal aimed at transforming Nigeria’s business environment by simplifying company registration processes and accelerating approvals.

A statement from the Commission, said the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, made this known in Port Harcourt, at its 2025 Stakeholders Forum.

The statement read: “The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced the take-off of a pilot new Artificial Intelligence (AI)- powered registration portal.

“A major game changer for doing business in Nigeria is part of CAC’s transformative initiatives signaling a complete overhaul of the Company Registration Portal (CRP).”

Magaji noted that the introduction of the AI – powered portal completely changed the Commission’s current Registration Portal.

The portal has been programmed to provide instant name approvals, with a system intelligently designed to suggest alternative names when preferred options are unavailable.

He further explained that with the new dispensation, business owners can use only the National Identification Number (NIN), of the proprietor or director, to commence registration, once that is verified, the system automatically generates a Certificate of Registration and delivers same, to the person’s email in under thirty minutes.

He said, “CAC’s target time for business registration was now under 30 minutes to generate a certificate and deliver to the customer’s email, subject to real-time NIN verification,”

While admitting that possible delays could still be experienced because of factors outside its control, like the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the CAC boss said an AI solution has been developed, to handle that hurdle.

Magaji said this trend will enable CAC carry out its duties smarter and better.
