Nigerian afrobeat sensation and Grammy award-winning artist, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, delivered an electrifying performance at the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday. The highly anticipated football match between Manchester City and Inter Milan took place at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.

Burna Boy’s performance, alongside Brazilian singer Anitta, created history as he became the first African artist to perform at a Champions League final. This achievement adds to Burna Boy’s recent successes, including his four nominations at the upcoming BET Awards and his record-breaking concert at London Stadium, where he became the first African artist to sell out the 80,000-capacity venue.

Despite fellow artist Davido referring to him as a “new cat” in the music industry, Burna Boy seemed unfazed and chose not to respond directly. Instead, he took to his Instagram page to share photos from his London concert, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to unite people from diverse backgrounds through his music. Burna Boy’s London performance allowed him to fulfill his lifelong dream and celebrate his remarkable achievements.

The online community has been buzzing with mixed reactions to Davido’s statement and eagerly awaiting Burna Boy’s response. However, Burna Boy’s focus remains on his musical journey and the positive impact he can make through his art.
