Ben Murray-Bruce: Davido Will Win If He Runs For Governor

    Published on

Former Bayelsa State governor, Ben Murray-Bruce, has suggested that Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has the potential to run for and win the governorship of Osun State in the future.

Speaking in a recent episode of his Common Sense series, Murray-Bruce described Davido not just as a globally celebrated artist, but also as a politically aware individual with strong convictions. He emphasized that Davido comes from a politically active family — his uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, and another uncle, the late Isiaka Adeleke, previously held the same office during the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida.

“Davido is more than just a music icon. He’s a political animal with deeply held views and a clear-cut ideology,” Murray-Bruce said, recounting a personal conversation with the artist. He argued that Davido’s family background and personal political awareness position him well for future political leadership.

Murray-Bruce also advocated for more entertainers to enter politics, noting that their broad public appeal and ability to connect with diverse demographics could bring a new energy to Nigeria’s political scene. “Davido, if you run, I predict you will win,” he concluded.
