‎The Asaba Town Planning Regulatory Committee has intensified its public sensitisation campaign across Asaba Inland Town, calling on landlords, shop owners and other property occupants to comply fully with town planning regulations aimed at promoting a cleaner, safer, and more organised urban environment.

‎Speaking during an inspection and awareness exercise in the state capital,  the Chairman of the Committee, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, said the initiative was designed to educate residents and business owners on the importance of adhering to approved building standards, and maintaining public spaces free from encroachment.

‎”The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to transform Asaba Inland Town into a modern and attractive community through strict compliance with established planning guidelines.

‎“This sensitization exercise is intended to educate landlords, shop owners and residents on the need to comply with approved building standards, avoid encroachment on public spaces and ensure that their properties conform to existing town planning regulations,” he said.

‎He expressed concern over the indiscriminate display of goods, illegal structures, abandoned caravans, and other forms of environmental obstruction, noting that such practices not only diminish the beauty of the town, but also pose serious safety and environmental risks.

‎”Unauthorised structures, indiscriminate display of goods, and obstruction of road setbacks, drainage channels, and pedestrian walkways create avoidable hazards and undermine the vision of a neat and organized Asaba,” he stated.

‎Eluaka appealed to landlords and shop owners to voluntarily remove all unauthorised structures, and desist from activities that obstruct public infrastructure, stressing that compliance with town planning regulations is a collective responsibility that would improve public safety, sanitation, and support the ongoing urban renewal efforts in Asaba Inland Town.

‎The Committee Chairman assured residents that the sensitisation campaign would continue across different parts of the community to ensure widespread awareness before enforcement begins.

‎“We are giving everyone adequate opportunity to comply through this awareness campaign. Enforcement will follow after the sensitisation exercise, and we urge all residents and business operators to cooperate for the overall development of Asaba Inland Town,” he stated.

‎The Committee reaffirmed that the cooperation of residents, landlords and business owners remains crucial to achieving the shared vision of a clean, orderly and rapidly developing Asaba Inland Town.
