In an extraordinary show of support for the farming community, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has taken decisive action to alleviate the crippling effects of the fuel subsidy removal. With the aim of reducing the exorbitant cost of living, the governor has generously released a fleet of 80 vehicles to facilitate the transportation of farmers from their communities to their precious farmlands.

This remarkable fleet consists of 50 luxurious buses, drawn from the esteemed Borno Express Corporation, the state-owned transport company renowned for its impeccable service. Additionally, the state government has hired an additional 30 pick-up vans to augment the initiative.

Addressing a massive gathering of thousands of farmers in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum emphasized the significance of this groundbreaking endeavor. “We are here purposefully to support the farmers. As you can see, thousands have gathered, and their numbers may even reach a staggering 100,000. Therefore, the Borno State Government has made the resolute decision to provide 50 buses and 30 pick-up vans to transport farmers to their farmlands during this crucial rainy season,” proclaimed the visionary leader.

Governor Zulum further implored the farmers to extend their full cooperation to the soldiers, police, and other security agencies deployed along the roads to safeguard the welfare and security of citizens, particularly those venturing to the outskirts to access their farmlands. “I want to urge you, dear farmers, to offer unwavering support and cooperation to the Nigerian Military. Their presence is solely to protect and secure your well-being,” he added, highlighting the indispensable role of the armed forces.

Expressing deep gratitude, the governor acknowledged the immeasurable sacrifices made by the military in safeguarding the people of Borno State. Their unwavering commitment has paved the way for the resurgence of farming activities across the state, breathing new life into the agricultural sector.

This groundbreaking initiative marks a turning point in the battle against the adverse effects of the subsidy removal. Governor Zulum’s bold move demonstrates an unwavering commitment to the welfare and prosperity of Borno State’s farmers. With enhanced transportation options at their disposal, these resilient individuals can now forge ahead with renewed vigor, undeterred by the challenges that lie ahead. The future of farming in Borno has been reinvigorated, and the state stands poised to reap the abundant rewards of this visionary endeavor.
