Kachikwu Urges Tinubu to Investigate Corruption in CBN, NNPCL

    Published on

Dumebi Kachikwu, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the 2023 general elections, has called upon President Bola Tinubu to initiate a thorough examination of the operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), and the Nigeria Customs Service.

During his Democracy Day broadcast on Monday, Kachikwu emphasized that investigating these three institutions would not only uncover instances of misconduct in recent years but also enable the new administration to implement reforms aimed at revitalizing the economy to address future challenges.

While Kachikwu commended the decision to eliminate petrol subsidies, he criticized Tinubu for not implementing sufficient measures to alleviate the hardships caused by the nationwide increase in fuel prices.

Kachikwu stated, “Our President must promptly investigate the activities of our CBN governor, who is arguably the most politically influenced governor the country has ever had.

“The pillars of our economy today are the CBN, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, and the Nigeria Customs Service. Every other aspect of our economy is interconnected with these pillars, but they have become the breeding ground for corruption. If the President has already taken action with regards to the CBN, he should expand his focus to include the NNPCL and the customs.”
