In a swift move, the Senate has granted approval to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s request for the appointment of 20 Special Advisers. The President’s letter, which was addressed to Senate President Dr. Ahmad Lawan, was read on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.
While the President did not provide specific names and portfolios for the 20 Special Advisers, the Senate wasted no time in granting the request. Senate President Lawan emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating that it is crucial for the President to have a team to work with.
“We will proceed with the approval even without the names for Special Advisers, considering the utmost urgency of the situation,” said Lawan.
This development follows closely on the heels of President Tinubu’s recent appointments, including Senator George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, and Senator Ibrahim Hadejia as Deputy Chief of Staff.
