    Four Nigerian players have been selected for the Team of the Tournament in the 2023 WAFU B U-20 Cup.

    Despite losing the 2023 WAFU B U-20 Cup final against Ghana, four players from the Nigerian Falconets have been included in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament.The outstanding individual performances of the Nigerian Falconets players have earned them a place in the team of the tournament.The 2023 WAFU B U-20 Cup final saw Ghana emerging as winners after a penalty shootout victory over Nigeria, following a 1-1 draw in regular time. Four Nigerian players, Opeyemi Ajakaye, Flourish Sebastine, Esther Onyenezide, and Chinyere Kalu, were included in the tournament’s team of the tournament, alongside players from Ghana and Burkina Faso. Sebastine and Ajakaye finished as top scorers for Nigeria in the final, with four and six goals respectively. The first eleven formation featured an attacking lineup with Nigeria’s Adele Kabren and other strikers. Ghana’s Stella Nyamekye and Success Ameeya, along with Nigeria’s Onyenezide, formed the midfield trio, with Nyamekye also winning the best player award for the competition.In the team of the tournament for the 2023 WAFU B U-20 Cup, Sarah Kulible from Ghana and Kalu from Nigeria formed the central defensive partnership. Comfort Yeboah and Fatimata Fuseini occupied the full-back positions on either side of the defense. Afi Amenyaku, Ghana’s goalkeeper who played a crucial role in the penalty shootout, was selected as the team’s goalkeeper.
